Description
for the #pARTy-challenge, january 2013 reference
Loved this ref and I loved sketching it, but then I decided to use an ink pen (I couldn't find my liquid ink wtf) and suddenly I didn't like it anymore. I've never much liked ink pens for a number of reasons, but oh well. Practice makes perfe... uhm, better. And my cross-hatching needs a lot of practice.
<rant>I was farely happy with this one until I scanned it and saw it on the screen. The body of the horse is too short. AGAIN. I always do that. In this case it's extra-special annoying since it looked too long at first and I erased the sketch and, well, made it too short. </rant>
Also, note my attempt at a background! This is my 2013-project. To draw backgrounds. Even if it's just a sloppily drawn fence. Win.
Reference: (it's a super-gorgeous ref imho. Might draw it again in another media)

Fantastic drawing! I particularly like the way you've managed to capture the colours and patterns of his coat *and* render his muscles. Great inking, even if you say you're out of practice! His back is a little short, but the rest of his anatomy is spot on. The background is a great addition too
